Left foot right foot, one-two mic check, dig sound boomin outta jeep. From the bottom to the top, where I'm from and ya don't stop! One-two, one-two party people in the place to be
— as Kool Moe Dee would say back in the days when great artists put out great music with mentality "
What I do, how I do, who's behind this website. Finally you people get to know me better; not that everybody gives a flying fuck about me, of course. I ain't no one and, to be honest, a bunch of images-thumbs online to describe projects ain't gonna help that much, except for increasing our miserable job career self-esteem.
I can't stand social networks like Facebook and many other useless tools that might waste my life-time in nothing instructive. They might be useful to keep in touch with my relatives all over the world, but Whatsapp does the job very well. Thus I came up with this great idea of this blog, which is funny to think about, since my design portfolio is celebrating its 15th anniversary (Now you know why I'm speaking old school). Yep, so many years passion-driven and trying to find perfection, scratching and coding older versions from zero (check em out at the bottom left of the page, footer)
As Salvador Dalì said - Have no fear of perfection, you'll never reach it.
Somehow the aim of this blog is to help anyone looking for answers concerning ux-design technical matter and why not, anyone willing to improve their knowledge through cgi, coding, science, art, sport, history and minor curiosities. Coz remember nerds, computers ain't everything! There's a life outta your room.
Can't make any promise, but I'll try really hard to keep this web-spot going on ... and no, I'm not that kinda uber-super-dork-nerd-geek you would think of, even though I've spent alotta time on computers trying making cool stuff.
To make it clear, I start every day with 99 fucks. I end my day with ninety-nine fucks. How many fucks do I give every day? Yes, keep your negative attitude outta my sight
Speaking of smart devices, I've been watching this game evolving since the end of the 90's. This picture below describes better what I'm talking about. Let's say the first post is dedicated to what I've been trhough to get where I am today (imma cut right to the quick, aint got alotta time babas)
Yes indeed, these devices (unfortunately most of them got lost) speak louder than any words. Each one represents myself at different life time, when I was thinking what job will I go for?
I came a long way working hard. No one really believed I could make it (thanks to the few who helped me go through, though). Digital design in Italy... you must be joking?? I went for a run: I met alotta universities, institutes, academy (besides Fine Art, even applied and made it to Air Force academy). I talked to industrial professionals between Italy and the U.S. I studied a lot and gave a try to every digital art matter, even painting and one of the oldest print making art, calcography. Not to mention I even worked hard as dammed farmer :) Coz this is what I felt good about.
But these smartphones have something in common. I've been holding them for years since I was 16 years old, meaning I've been holding the answer as well. I just had no freaking idea. When it comes the time to speak of job activities, web and mobile development are my big interests.
To be ironic, as Louis C.K. would say "Just eat the food. Whenever you find it, put it in your mouth. Eat the food … and when you feel the pressure, go take a shit! Life is simple as that. Why bother? life goals, what, how...
While I was using that old Samsung (on the left) in the late 90's, I was building one of my first websites like my first design portfolio with action-script 1.0, when 3D libraries didn't came out yet. What more? Flash Lite, great memories making first mobile apps, not to mention the time spent making VRML stuff all over the web. Time I spent talking with Tim Berners Lee's friend, F. Fontana about the imminent 3D full immersion web browser.
The HTC Tytan II (that shitty windows desktop 5.0 they used to call mobile-operative-system) reminds me of my life in the U.S. between 2004 and 2008 while I was studying and working hard at the same time. Can't forget riding my bike through the Arizona hills, leaving it on the bike-rack, sitting on the bus heading to the Arizona State University and reading plain javascript and PHP 2.0. I had the chance to make great projects like Kepher involving web development and 3D production delivered to video game design concept. Also I believed that this 3D interactivity would make a difference for the future store-online selling their products. As it is, today. Again, let's talk about interactive Virtual Reality Video (VR). What about video games built in Lingo? DVD Offline production as well, I had great times! Shall we talk about this too? How technology evolved in million different shapes until today?
Finally my real first smartphone, Nexus S with the newest Android … the adversary of the hero, iPhone. About the same time in 2009, the appearance of Windows Phone must be underlined as well, as it gave a big lesson concerning user interactions based on Hollywood Special Fxs (despite its horrible past as mentioned above). Instead, Blackberry ended up in a deadly road with no exit, as far as they renewed to version 10, two years ago.
Like that old saying in Venezuela: Verga, ta mas caga'o que un blackberry en autobus! *translation: Shit, you're frightened like a blackberry on the bus* meaning, once upon time, blackberry was such a great smartphone that everybody wanted it so bad that they would have kill for it...
A big mess, but I like it. I'm glad I'm into it and I keep designing web apps and native apps always trying to improve my production process in order to provide users with a better product as far as I can... as far as this country wants to go beyond visual range to join others, if you know what I'm talking about
Nowadays we see people waving proudly their Apple Watches and Android Wear on their wrists (that old Casio calculator, what a fun was!). Who knows what will be in the future. Surely it'll depends on us and what we'll use these devices for. Maybe one day, as military stuff is supplied more and more to the people's hands, we'll be sitting and wearing this fancy tech eyeglass and living another life somewhere else piloting an avatar.
Yes, Kubrick and Arthur C. Clark predicted tablets and artificial satellite few decades ago as well as Jules Verne imagined a device to place call everywhere in the world, long time ago. However, I believe we're still far away. Way way over from those cool Science Fiction movies that teach us about the future. For instance visit Mark Coleran's works.
They said Moon first. Now they're heading to Mars. Phoenix Lander made the point, back in 2007. Yet, I believe we can't go to another planet and pretend to make a living out there...outta nowhere! Maybe we're just playing and this is only the beginning. We're not ready yet. The next quote couldn't explain better what I mean
As George Carlin would say "Greenpeace... they say: save the planet, save the trees, save the wales! Can't even take care of one another! They believe the planet is fucked. So wrong. The planet is doing great. It has gone through a lot worst than us , in million years. The planet isn't going anywhere. We are. The planet is fine. People are fucked. Pack yo shit folks…we're going away... and I'm not talking about going to another planet. Yeah sure, why not? With all these impressive things we've done down here… plastic bags, lightning sneakers and murderes!"
